Step Up Your Game: How Many Steps You Need for a Healthy Heart

Hey there, Couch Coach Fitness Fam! It's time for another #CCF blog, where we bring you the latest findings to keep you healthy and fit. Today, we're talking steps! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

We've all heard the age-old advice of aiming for 10,000 steps per day. But recent research suggests that there's more to the story, and it's great news for those of us with busy schedules. According to a study from The Telegraph, scientists have found that even a modest increase of 500 extra steps per day can reduce the risk of stroke and heart problems in people in their 70s. Now, that's a number we can all work with! 🙌

But what about our fellow 25-45-year-olds? A study published in Science Daily sheds some light on the sweet spot for steps in our age group. Research reveals that taking 7,000-8,000 steps per day is associated with a 50-70% lower risk of death from all causes, compared to those who take less than 4,000 steps daily. Talk about a step in the right direction! 🎯

So, what does this mean for you, our amazing #CCF community? While 10,000 steps might be the gold standard, it's not the be-all and end-all! Even if you're not hitting that number, you can still make significant strides towards better cardiovascular health. Aim for 7,000-8,000 steps a day, and remember, every extra step counts! 💪
